Who does parent hours?  All families with students in grade Kindergarten through 12th grades.  Families with only preschool enrolled children are not required to do hours; however, you certainly can participate.

 

Why does HCS require family hours? 

Having our parents get involved in their child's school gets you connected with other parents and the school community.  Also, involvement hours are vital to the running of the school.  If volunteer hours are not received it will require us to either contract out work or hire additional staff. This would necessitate an increase in tuition to cover additional costs.

How many hours are required?  Every hour of volunteer service is one PIP point and each family needs to earn 20 points a year.  Split family situations 10 hours per family.

How do I get my hours? ​​​ There are several opportunities to volunteer throughout the school year from school field trip chaperone, bowling chaperone, helping in classrooms, helping at sporting events, plant stand, teacher appreciation week and much more.  To find opportunities, please check SignUpGenius, as well as our newsletter.

Do I have to fulfill my hours?  If you are a family that receives any kind of tuition discount/financial aid, you must fulfill your hours.  If you are a family that does not require financial aid, you can choose to pay for your hours, although we highly encourage you to do some and connect with other HCS families.

Unfulfilled PIP points will be billed on the July statement at a rate of $20 per point. Please see the handbook which is provided for more information on PIP points. Families with only preschool enrolled children are not required but encouraged to participate in PIP points.
